/pages/college-and-university-level/pages/middle-and-high-school This book represents an attempt to build the Arabic learners’ communicative skills sequentially, in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and functional skills. It introduces the student to basic topics that are easily accessible and frequently used in everyday conversation, providing in each lesson: dialogue; speaking, reading, and writing exercises; cultural information; and elections from Arabic magazines and websites. The book focuses on developing spoken Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) skills as a means to enable the beginner student to communicate with speakers across a variety of dialects.

About the Author:
The series was made possible by funding and encouragement from the Language Acquisition Resource Center under the directorship of Dr. Mary Ann Lyman-Hager and hosted at the San Diego State University. Dr. Ghada Osman, the director of the Center of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the San Diego State University, offered us invaluable advice and encouragement. Drs. Mohamed Sherif and Dany Doueiri spent long hours editing and fine tuning the content in this book. We would like to thank Mr. Saad ElDeghwy for all the help with the audio recording.
